It is a true honour, as the Member of Parliament for Haldimand-Norfolk, to extend my sincere gratitude for your ongoing dedication and the indispensable role you play in our agricultural sector as we enter a new season.
Your work as farmers is the foundation upon which our local economy and much of Canada’s food security rests. Through your leadership and perseverance, you ensure that agriculture and agribusiness continue to thrive, providing employment for thousands and delivering high-quality, home-grown food to Canadians and families around the world. By providing safe and welcoming workspaces for those who travel far from home to work alongside you, you are building a stronger and more compassionate community.
As we welcome the changing season, we are reminded once again of the essential work you undertake. From greenhouses and floriculture, to berries, apples, and so much more, each harvest reflecting not only hard work, but generations of knowledge, resilience, and care for the land. Farm ownership carries with it both responsibility and pride, and you continue to meet that responsibility with strength and determination.
Agriculture is not only the backbone of our economy, but also a defining part of our region’s history and identity. Farming families have shaped our rural communities and sustained the traditions that continue to guide us today, while driving innovation and adaptation in a sector that is constantly evolving, ensuring Canadian agriculture remains competitive for the future.
I also recognize that the demands placed upon you, especially at this time, are significant. The economic pressures, market uncertainty, and the weight of constant decision-making for your farm and your futureare not easily borne. I remain committed to advocating for you and supporting measures that alleviate the uncertainty, reduce the regulatory burden, strengthen our rural communities, and ensure that the realities of farm life are understood and respected in policy decisions.
As we move into this new season, I want to thank you sincerely for your leadership and contributions to our agricultural sector. Your work is essential to our economy, our food security, and our national prosperity.
