From fertilizer retailer to full-service agricultural supplier, Underhill’s continues to support local growers through innovation, service, and community involvement.
A Family Business Built on Agriculture
Max Underhill’s Farm Supply began in 1970 as a 50/50 joint venture C-I-L fertilizer retail operation founded by Max Underhill.
John Sebok, father of current President Jonathan Sebok and Vice-President Andrew Sebok, was the company’s first employee. John and his wife, Marnie, acquired the business in 1979 before passing ownership to Jonathan and Andrew in 1999.
Today, the Underhill’s team consists of 34 full-time employees working between two locations, supported by additional seasonal staff throughout the summer months.
Evolving with the Industry
More than 55 years later, Underhill’s continues to provide crop nutrients, crop protection products, seed, soil amendments, custom application services, and crop scouting and consulting, all backed by a commitment to quality customer service.
Underhill’s now operates alongside Sollio Agriculture as part of the Agromart Group in Ontario.
While tobacco was the cornerstone of the agricultural community in the 1970s, the region has steadily transitioned toward horticultural and cash crops, though tobacco remains an important crop for many producers.

Embracing Technology and Innovation
As agriculture has evolved, so has Underhill’s.
Advances in technology have led to the adoption of GPS mapping, site-specific soil sampling, crop scouting, drone technology, and precision agriculture services. The company also provides crop consulting and custom application services designed to help growers make informed decisions and maximize productivity.
Building Strong Teams and Strong Communities
Underhill’s places a strong emphasis on building and maintaining a positive workplace culture while fostering a dedicated team environment.
Giving back to the community has always been an important part of the company’s values. Underhill’s proudly supports local schools, sports teams, community events, food banks, and various charitable initiatives throughout the region.
The company remains grateful to the local producers whose support has helped sustain the business for more than five decades.
Looking to the Future
As Jonathan and Andrew begin transitioning into the next chapter of their careers, the next generation of leadership is becoming increasingly involved in the business.
Their goal remains the same: maintaining the values, service, and commitment that have defined Underhill’s for generations while ensuring the business continues to serve local agriculture for decades to come.
