Starting Strong: A Warm Welcome to Norfolk County

OPP logo

Each growing season, thousands of agricultural workers representing countries from around the world arrive in Norfolk County to support one of the most important industries in our community. Whether you are arriving for the first time or returning for another season, we want to extend a warm welcome to you.

The work you do is not only essential to our local economy and food supply, but your presence also helps make Norfolk County the vibrant and diverse community it is. The friendships, cultures, experiences, and contributions you bring each year are valued and appreciated by many throughout our area.

The Norfolk County OPP believes that, by working together, we can help create a safe and prosperous place for everyone to live, work, and play. Community safety is a shared responsibility, and reporting criminal or suspicious activity plays an important role in crime prevention. Non-emergency matters can be reported to the OPP by calling 1-888-310-1122. In an emergency, always dial 9-1-1.

As police officers, we cannot be everywhere at all times, which is why public reporting is so important. Information can also be shared anonymously through Crime Stoppers of Haldimand & Norfolk by calling 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).

Our officers take pride in interacting with everyone who lives and works in Norfolk County. If you see an officer in the community, never hesitate to wave, say hello, or ask a question. If language is a barrier, using a translation app on your cellphone can greatly assist us in helping you.

As the season moves forward, we will continue sharing information and tips to help keep you safe. We also encourage everyone to remain aware of their surroundings, especially as we move closer to summer, when Norfolk County’s highways and roadways become increasingly busy with tourists and visitors. Whether you are driving a vehicle, riding a bicycle, or walking, staying alert and making safe choices can help prevent injuries and keep everyone safe.

On behalf of the Norfolk County OPP, welcome, stay safe, and thank you for all that you do for our community.
